SHAW ECOLOGIX CARPET BACKING
As a way to address environmental needs, Shaw Industries introduced the EcoLogix carpet cushioning system. EcoLogix carpet backing is composed of 91% recycled post-consumer content for a sustainable carpeting system. This helps curve the dumping of waste into landfills, and puts it back into circulation; meaning that less current resources are depleted. The EcoLogix carpet backing system was Shaw's first step in their Cradle-to-Cradle initiative, and sparked their Shaw Green Edge program.
Benefits of EcoLogix
Building owners are able to achieve their LEED certification with EcoLogix's help, and outperforms urethane and PVC cushion backing. With EcoLogix's lamination strength of more than 20lbs/in, it tests four times better than traditional urethane carpet backing. With its careful construction, EcoLogix resists compression, and provides better long-term comfort and support than traditional carpet cushion backing.
Applications
Ecologix is available as an upgrade for Shaw Carpet Tile, and six foot broadloom carpet. EcoLogix is specifically designed to withstand high traffic applications such as airports, malls, convention centers, schools, health care, and other commercial facilities.
