SOLID HARDWOOD VS.
ENGINEERED HARDWOOD

Direct from Dalton, Georgia "The Carpet Capital of The World."

Owen Carpet offers a wide variety of hardwood flooring products, and we are hoping to help you become familiar with all the different kinds of hardwood flooring. Hardwood flooring in America has been around since the country first began, and in some places the original flooring is still intact.

Solid Hardwood is generally a 3 1/4" tongue and groove plank product. This type will last much longer if cared for properly. Available in Prefinished and unfinished versions, but you can finish or refinish as many times as you need.

Engineered Hardwood has been on the rise in popularity for about 10 or 15 years. Engineered Hardwood is made up of 3 to 5 different layers and glued together, and the species of the wood is classified by the top layer. This type of hardwood flooring is the only type that can be installed over concrete. If you are the least bit worried about moisture on your floor, install Engineered Hardwood instead of Solid.
