Why
Wear-Dated?
It's the only brand you need to know.
Wear-Dated® carpet fiber has earned its reputation
as the most durable choice for carpet. Carpet made with
Wear-Dated® carpet fiber is sure to stand the test
of time.
Carpet made with Wear-Dated® carpet
fiber is available from the major carpet manufacturers
and brands you already know, like Mohawk (Karastan,
Aladdin, Horizon, CustomWeave, Wunda Weve), Shaw (Tuftex,
Philadelphia, Queen, World, Trustmark), Beaulieu (Coronet,
Hollytex), Royalty, Gulistan, Milliken, Fabrica, and
Masland. |

Nylon 6,6 - the fiber
specified most often by professional designers and architects
Wear-Dated® is made of 100% Nylon 6,6. You know
that if it can stand up to the demands of commercial
interiors it can stand up to your busy family. That's
why Nylon is the material used most often in residential
carpet too. It is more resilient than polyester and
olefin (also called polypropylene) so it springs back
under traffic. Nylon 6,6 in particular is more resistant
to abrasion and rolling traffic so it retains its original
appearance longer. It resists stains and soiling better
than other fiber materials so it cleans up more easily.
Nylon comes in an infinite array of colors and resists
fading in sunlight. It feels softer to the touch than
other synthetic fibers and is more affordable than wool.

|
Carpet made with Wear-Dated®
carpet fiber is available from the most reputable and
well known carpet manufacturers in the industry. However,
not every carpet can carry the Wear-Dated® carpet
fiber label. Only those that have met stringent standards
for construction can.

 |
Density
Density refers to the thickness of the yarn
and how close the tufts of yarn are spaced together.
The higher the Density, the better the performance. |
 |
|
Twist
Twist refers to how tightly the pair of yarns
in each tuft is twisted. It is expressed in
a #/inch of length. The tighter the twist in
the yarn, the higher the number, the better
the performance. |
 |
|
Weight
Weight indicates how much fiber there is in
the carpet, explaining why heavier carpets tend
to cost more. Weight is a function of the pile
height and density combined. Pile height is
a personal choice whereas density is a truer
measure of performance. |
 |
|
Height
Pile height is the distance from the backing
to the top of the tufts. Selection of pile height
is based on the style and functionality you're
seeking. 'Deep pile' is plusher, but can also
show tracks and vacuum marks. 'Lower pile' height
is firmer and may be preferred where wheeled
furniture or toys are being moved around. |

Tough Tested and Certified
Scientists, engineers and technicians at our Nylon
Textile Technology Center in Pensacola, Florida test
each new carpet style following procedures established
by the AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists
and Colorists). Before a carpet can carry the Wear-Dated®
carpet fiber brand name we ensure that it passes these
industry tests as well as lives up to our exacting
standards for durability.
Wear & Soil Resistance
We walk over each carpet approximately 20,000 times
and rate how well it resists soiling and maintains
its original texture and appearance. We are the only
company in the industry that uses real people to test
carpet against everyday wear and tear.
Stain Resistance
We pour acid red #40 dye, similar to that used in
Kool-Aid and then see how well it comes out. Then
we simulate walking on it and stain it again to ensure
that the stain resistance hasn't worn off.
Color & Light Fastness
We expose the carpet to ultraviolet light, ozone,
and other gases common in the air to ensure that they
do not degrade the carpet or cause it to fade or discolor.
Tuft Bind
We pull on the yarns to ensure they are securely tufted
to the carpet backing.

Durability
for your every need |
A fiber engineered
for every need
No matter your lifestyle, there is a Wear-Dated®
carpet fiber to meet your needs. That's because Wear-Dated®
carpet fiber is made for life.
Beauty - Colors and styles for every décor
Whether you're looking for a plush Saxony for a formal
room, a versatile textured cut pile for the whole
house or one of the trendier loop, patterned or frieze
styles, you'll find one made with Wear-Dated®
carpet fiber in just the color you're looking for.
Comfort - Give your family softness that
lasts
There's nothing more luxurious than walking barefoot
across an ultra-soft carpet. Now you don't have to
sacrifice durability for softness. Perfect for the
bedroom or family room, Wear-Dated® DuraSoft carpet
fiber is the ultimate in softness and durability.
Extra durability - A great choice for high-traffic
areas
With kids, pets and visitors, some areas in your home
get more traffic than others. Great for family rooms,
playrooms, and hallways, Wear-Dated® Traffic Control
carpet fiber is engineered for tough traffic. The
tighter the yarn is twisted, the better it retains
its original texture and appearance. Carpet yarn made
with Wear-Dated® Traffic Control carpet fiber
uses innovative technology to lock in the twist, so
carpet resists crushing and matting longer than most
other carpets.
Affordability - Making Berbers better
The versatility of looped carpets, often referred
to as Berbers, appeals to many homeowners. Until now,
most were made of olefin (polypropylene) which can
feel harsh and doesn't wear as well, or wool which
can be prohibitively expensive. Unlike most synthetic
looped carpets, made from BCF (bulk continuous fiber)
Wear-Dated® ThermaSealed carpet fiber is a staple
fiber similar to natural wool fibers. So, with ThermaSealed
you get the performance of Nylon 6,6 and the magnificent
look and luxurious feel of wool.
